DISTANCE LEARNING

Online, Distance Learning Delivery

The traditional fixed schedule for classes is replaced by your ability to participate in weekly activities for each course on your own schedule. An electronic grade book keeps you up to date daily on your progress in the course. Utilizing the popular and easy to use virtual classroom platform, Blackboard, everything is electronic, including: submitting assignments, classroom discussions, lectures, taking exams, and working on projects with teammates.

Two Residency Periods

AMTA only requires two one-week residency periods--one at the beginning (Inaugural) and one near the end (Capstone) {Link to Capstone Residency} of your degree program. They are designed in order to better meet the changing education and career development needs of tourism professionals.

These residencies, generally held at The George Washington University's Graduate Education Center in Arlington, Virginia, will provide face-to-face classroom hours and networking opportunities with faculty and industry professionals.

During the Inaugural residency period you will have the opportunity to personally meet your professors as well as the other students, receive an orientation on how to work on-line, learn how to access e-libraries, and be successful in virtual coursework.
